What Our Local SEO Audit Covers

Most businesses find out they have a visibility problem the slow way. The phone rings less. A competitor you have never heard of starts showing up at jobs you used to get. Nothing obviously broke, so nothing obviously needs fixing.

An audit tells you what is actually happening, before you spend money trying to fix the wrong thing.

Two things decide whether a local business gets found: the Google Business Profile and the website behind it. We look at both, we look at how well they agree with each other, and we check your Yelp page while we are at it.

Your Google Business Profile

  • Whether your primary category matches the service that actually makes you money
  • Secondary categories you qualify for and are not using
  • Services listed by name, or missing entirely
  • Hours, service area, and attributes, including the small fields most businesses leave blank
  • Review volume, review content, and how you respond
  • Photos: how many, how recent, and whether they are real

Your website

  • Whether your site says the same thing your profile says
  • Name, address, and phone formatting across every page
  • Whether each service you offer has a real page, or one page lists everything
  • Whether a crawler can read your content
  • Schema markup, and what is missing from it

Why Your Profile and Website Decide Everything Else

There is a lot of noise right now about optimizing for AI search as if it were a separate discipline. It mostly is not. Roughly the same work that has always made a local business rank well is the work that gets it recommended by an AI tool: a clean, accurate Google Business Profile, a website that says the same thing your profile says, and real reviews on more than one platform.

That is why this audit looks hard at two things rather than spreading thin across a dozen.

Your Google Business Profile is the source document

It decides whether you appear in the map pack, where most local calls still come from today. It is also the first thing any AI tool reads when it looks your business up. A profile with the wrong primary category, blank attributes, and three photos from 2023 is working against you in traditional search and in AI answers at the same time.

Your website is where the claim gets confirmed

Google uses your site to verify what your profile says. AI tools go there to read the detail a profile cannot hold: your process, your pricing, your service area in your own words. A profile with no real site behind it is a claim with no evidence.

When the two disagree, both get discounted

This is the single most common problem we find, and the cheapest one to fix. Your name formatted three different ways. Services listed on your profile that appear nowhere on your site. A service area described one way in one place and another way somewhere else. When they match, both get stronger.

Why We Check Your Yelp Page Too

Why We Check Your Yelp Page Too

This surprises people, so it is worth explaining. In 2026 Yelp signed a licensing agreement with OpenAI, and ChatGPT now surfaces Yelp reviews, photos, and business details inside its answers when someone asks for a local provider.

Independent research analyzed citations across more than 28 million AI responses to local business queries and compared six discovery platforms. Yelp received 3.4 times more AI citations than the next closest platform, more than the other five combined. More than half of those citations came from "near me" questions, which is the exact moment a customer is deciding who to consider.

So we check whether your Yelp page is claimed, whether it is complete, and whether it matches your Google profile. If it is thin or inconsistent, you are missing from those answers.

What You'll Receive

A short written report, sent to your email within two business days. No login, no dashboard, no 60-page PDF of automated warnings.

  • Where you currently rank for the searches that matter in your area
  • What is wrong or missing on your Google Business Profile, item by item
  • Where your website and your profile contradict each other
  • The state of your Yelp page and what it is costing you in AI recommendations
  • How your profile compares to the businesses showing up ahead of you
  • What to fix first, whether you work with us or not

If you want to talk through it, there is a link in the report to book a free 30-minute call. That is entirely optional. The report is yours either way.

What This Audit Does Not Include

We are not going to tell you your exact position inside ChatGPT or Google AI Overview, because those answers vary by who is asking and from where, and anyone quoting you a fixed AI ranking is guessing.

What we can tell you is whether the information those tools read about your business is accurate, complete, and consistent. That is the part you control, and it is the part that actually moves the result.

Is This Audit Free, and What Is the Catch?

It is free, and the catch is that we hope you like the report enough to ask what working together looks like.

Plenty of people take the report and fix things themselves, which is a fine outcome. We would rather be the people who told you the truth than the people who sold you a package you did not need.

How Long Does a Local SEO Audit Take?

Two business days from when you send us your details.

Who This Audit Is For

Businesses that serve customers in a defined area and depend on being found locally: contractors, medical practices, tax preparers, after school programs, restaurants, salons, and service businesses of every kind. If customers find you by searching rather than by walking past, this applies to you.

It also applies if you are brand new. A business with no profile, no reviews, and no history is not behind. It is starting clean, which is often easier than untangling years of inconsistent listings.
